Contexte
The COVID-19 pandemic has increased risk for already vulnerable communities in Sudan, as health facilities struggle to prepare for a rise in cases and food insecurity reaches crisis levels. Existing water, sanitation, and hygiene challenges have been further exacerbated and restrictive measures to combat the coronavirus have driven the need for emergency assistance in North Kordofan.

Impact
NEF, in coordination with the Sudan Ministry of Health, UNICEF, and the World Health Organisation, is activating local hygiene committees in 65 communities across North Kordofan. NEF is also working to upgrade water and sanitation infrastructure at health facilities, in partnership with the Sudan Water, Environment, and Sanitation Department. Additionally, this rapid response effort will combat food insecurity by supporting women to produce vegetables for consumption and sale.
