Présentation
We propose a project in collaboration with the International Livestock Research Institute in Kenya with strategies to prevent the contagious bovine pleuropneumonia, which is the main threat to cattle in Africa.
In this project, we apply a systematic, high throughput analysis of unique protein components at the surface of the causing mycoplasma bacterium and their interaction with the bovine host immune system. Gained information is used to build diagnostics and vaccines on carefully selected proteins, aided by recombinant protein technology and state of the art vaccine research. Our strategy includes manufacturing of the diagnostic kits and implementation as well as distribution in developing countries. The objective of the vaccine development is to suggest a recombinant vaccine candidate that is ready for clinical trial.
Coordination : KTH, Royal Institute of Technology
Financement : Swedish Research Council
