Présentation
The project aims to support government structures that are striving for development of agricultural know-how and infrastructure in order to reduce dependence of local populace on external help.

The project focuses on two main goals of intervention – increase efficiency of advisory services of selected Farming training centers (FTC) and promote more efficient agriculture of local small farmers. Small farmers will receive support by development agents, working in local training centers, or through agricultural cooperatives or self-help groups of which they are members.

Successful project implementation will contribute to the establishment of FTCs as functioning advisory centers and consequently also to the stabilization and development of agriculture in districts of Alaba (Alaba Special Woreda) and Dambova (Kembata Tembaro), the Southern Nations Region, Ethiopia.

In the FTCs, two community seed banks, two flour mills, two potato storerooms, one poultry house, a mushroom grow house, six water reservoirs for rain water from the roofs and one solar energy source were put into operation in 2012. Additionally, modern agricultural methods concerning vegetable, forage crops and fruit cultivation were introduced in the FTCs. In the Damboya woreda agricultural office, an IT center was established. A 5-day training in agriculture products marketing was held for 29 participants. During 2012, the establishment of an agricultural library have started.
