Présentation
The project is based on traditional long and successful cooperation between the Czech Republic and Mongolia in the geoscience fields. It also proceeds from the priorities of the Mongolian government set in the key government documents such as Economic Growth Support and Poverty Reduction Strategy.
The project comprises of compilation of 5 geological map sheets at the 1:50 000 scale (covering an area of 1 769.65 sq km), compilation of 5 geochemical anomaly maps at the 1 : 50 000 scale, complemented by the mineral occurrence maps, geological researches including application and interpretation of isotopic geochemical and geochronological data. Simultaneously, the documentation and assessment of the mineral potential of the selected area will be provided in order to attract the private sector (Czech, Mongolian, international) investment and local artisanal miners. One of the expected project outputs is gaining the mining license for the Czech firms preferentially. The project objective is also to strengthen the capacities of the Mongolian government and cooperation experts through trainings in both Mongolia and the Czech Republic.
The research area is situated in the central rarely inhabited part of the West Mongol Altay Mountains in the Khovd province. The project is being implemented with the cooperation of Ministry of Environment of the Czech Republic. The Mongolian partner institution is a state agency Mineral Resources of Mongolia.
