Soudan

Titre : Urgent Improvement of Water Supply Facilities at Kassala City (Sudan)

Pays : Soudan
Localisation : East and West Districts of Kassala City

Date : January 2012 to October 2013

Présentation
Sudan has vulnerability, being exposed to a human security crisis with the appearance of many refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) because of over two decades’ civil war. In particular, the population of Kassala city, located in the Eastern area of Sudan, increased dramatically with the inflow of the refugees and IDP. This expansion of the population caused chronic shortage of water, and the deterioration of the water supply facilities also has exacerbated the problem. In this cooperation, the renovation of the water supply facilities in Kassala city is the main issue. A fund is given for safe water supply planning in order to supply safe water to residents for the long term

Bénéficiaires
This cooperation focuses on around 90,000 residents who had received benefit from existing water supply facilities. It is expected that safe water will be able to be provided to them by appropriate injection of the disinfectant through the renovation of the facilities.

Montant de l’aide : 1.086 Billion Yen
