Présentation
The local partner in this project has concluded that a considerable part of the harvests of fruits and vegetables is wasted because the farms do not have good storage facilities. A facility for cold storage of fruits and vegetables that rents space to small and medium size farms and traders would be the solution for this problem. The project will be located in Hebron, near the wholesale market for fruits and vegetables. Within the facility, fruits and vegetables will also be sorted and packed. Two refrigeration trucks will transport the produce from the farms to the cold storage. The applicant is Saeed al Saghir Group of Companies from Dubai that has a wholesale department for fruits and vegetables. The local partner is Al Jabari Company for Filling and Packaging from Hebron that is also active in trading fruits and vegetables. The partners will establish a joint venture company for implementing the project. The project answers to a bottleneck in the post-harvest handling of Palestinian fruit and vegetables, that was identified in the CBI value chain analysis for the sector.
