Résumé
Water supply and management has become an important issue in the Western United States. Increasing population has added more pressure on the currently limited water supply. This study has provided an estimation of peak riparian evapotranspiration using water budget equations. Unmeasured return was calculated using the ground- based riparian evapotranspiration. From the analysis, high peak riparian evapotranspiration rate was observed, which can be a valuable resource for the currently limited water supply. This high rate is important to developing strategies to manage water resources, especially for the water managers. While estimating unmeasured return, however, it was found necessary to revise the United States Bureau of Reclamation’s methodology of measurement of unmeasured return. This report recommends finding a better technique to quantify unmeasured return flow, such as the water budget equation introduced here, as an alternative methodology.
