Under the project, the following works will be carried out : • rehabilitation of the Garissa sewerage network ; • expansion of the network through the construction of 27.5 km-long main sewer line and 41 km of secondary sewer pipes ; • construction of a fully equipped pumping station ; • installation of around 1,000 household connections ; and • replacement of an existing water treatment plant, which is currently located in an urban area, with a modern facility in a new, less populous location. Once completed, the project will do much to boost the health and well-being of numerous communities.
