Aims and Methods of the Research Work : The yield stability of 15 grain sorghum experimental hybrids at eight testing environments (4 locations and 2 years) of northeast Mexico as target environment, were compared by the cultivar average yield, Finlay y Wilkinson, Everhart y Russell and ASVAMMI and to the new proposed procedure of genetic environmental stratification stability (GES) with three types of checks : GES1 a grain sorghum commercial hybrid repeated in the eight testing environments, GES2 as check the commercial hybrid planted by the farmer beside of each experimental unit at each testing environment, GES3 a selected commercial hybrid at each testing environment that statistically out yielded other commercial hybrids and that of the farmer. The conventional procedures were not coincident in the identification of experimental hybrids by yield stability. GES1, GES2 and GES3, identified by yield stability the same three experimental hybrids, and fulfilled the plant breeder goal of identifying stable experimental hybrids that are statistically superior or equal but not inferior to the yield of different checks in at least one testing environment.
