The main content of the study are : ◆ on the basis of previous work, the theoretical basis and method of the study of desertification value and risk of district specific technology to explore ; ◆ northwest arid area of ??natural environment and land use the status of research and analysis of its ecological structure and function characteristics ; ◆ on the basis of the status quo analysis of, northwest arid area carried dangerous degree of zoning, and analysis of each area’s ecological characteristics ; ◆ desertification feature of the study area, the proposed corresponding Protection governance measures. The results show that : the potential desertification of the study area and very severe desertification extreme level are the few, mild, moderate, the desertification was flake or blotchy discontinuous distribution, instead of the regional distribution of the large area. The desertification development with obvious signs of phased timetable for the first class in 1988, the second class in 1989 to 1995, from 1995 to 2000, the third category, indicating that within 13 years, the various types of land use showing a good law. Seen four principal components extracted from the significant contribution of the human role in desertification, the variables in the first principal component contribution rate is 54.4%. The study regional climate is harsh, dryness ≥ 2, scarce precipitation, evaporation strong windy weather prevailed, the number of dust storms occurred in an upward trend in recent years. Sparse vegetation of the region, the structure of a single vegetation short plants, the growth cycle is very short, the NDVI values ??dropped significantly in recent years, serious damage to vegetation. Grassland and unused land occupied by the highest proportion in the entire study area, between the two and up to 91.38%, the low level of urbanization. Poor soil quality, fertility, and vulnerable to wind erosion, poor ecological environment, agricultural farming crop yields. Land desertification area is of poor focus on the distribution of the region, population growth quickly, the entire study area for 10 years the population average growth rate of 19.81% ; these areas, educational and cultural backwardness, poor basic education, a small number of schools, science and technology institutions, the shortage of talent ; industry structural imbalance, the area of ??agriculture and animal husbandry, the proportion of low output value, industrial underdevelopment.
