In this thesis the Hetao Irrigation POPULUS P. the Popularis’s [in western Inner × (Populus the the pyramidalis Salix matsudanaseedlings), CV ’Poplaris’] farmland shelterbelts as the research object, POPULUS water consumption by transpiration characteristics, salt ions absorption characteristics the protection the Lin Duilin of soil salt accumulation and balance, the age of the farmland shelterbelts updates, Shelter effectiveness research, make a comprehensive evaluation and the existing shelterbelt mode the protective effect of the main results and conclusions are as follows : (1) the impact POPULUS water consumption by transpiration of main environmental factors trees stand age, type of reforestation seedlings, diurnal variation, weather and so on. Forest age crown, vigorous growth, metabolism severe water consumption by transpiration ; the sprouted seedling roots, water absorption capacity, sprouting water than cuttings night, the forest belt transpiration weakened, tends to stop, continues to arid regions , groundwater daily to reduce transpiration weakened, water consumption decreases
