Résumé
The degradation of the natural resources worries studious of diverse areas of the knowledge and the population, in general. In semi-arid regions, as the north-eastern Brazilian, this problematic is aggravated due to the natural vulnerability ally to the process of use and occupation of the land. In the State of the Ceará, the areas more affected by the degradation process are the regions of the Medium Jaguaribe, Irauçuba and Inhamuns. The present study has as objective understand the process of degradation in one of these areas considered as the most reached, more specifically the city of Jaguaribe. The inquiry was made through the integration of the elements of the landscape associated with the element of use and occupation of the land. From the study of the environment variable such as climate, soil, topography, litology and vegetal covering was possible to verify the ambient fragility of the area, describe the main causes of the degradation processes and analyze the time changes of the vegetal covering. The results shown the hydric deficit which is submitted the city, its effect in the formation of the soil, the influence of the topography in the occupation of the area and the degradation provoked by the combination of the environment factors and human actions. Through satellite images it was verified that the degradation spots extends mainly on the lowered areas, whereas the elevated areas has more preserved vegetation. The occupation of the lands based in the binomial cattle X cotton, the subsistence agriculture and the vegetal extrativism have been the main causes of the elimination of the vegetal covering and the erosive processes identified.
