Integrated Water Resources Management in the Middle East

Workshop

-  Workshop : Integrated Water Resources Management in the Middle East

-  Kibbutz Ketura, Israel February 6th - 17th 2006

  • Organisateurs  : The Arava Institute for Environmental Studies (AIES) & NATO Advanced Study Institute (ASI)
  • Présentation  :
Water scarcity is a global problem that requires a global solution. What makes water especially difficult to manage is that it is first an essential and irreplaceable resource for any organism’s survival and second, that many watercourses are transboundary, adding a political element to its management.
The goal of this Advanced Study Institute is to describe why water in the region is both an environmental and a security concern. The approach taken will be interdisciplinary because science, society and policy all play a role in the management of water. Yet, the interactions of these diverse approaches are complex.
The Advanced Study Institute will seek to tease apart and make sense of these complexities.
  • Participation
This Advanced Study Institute is targeted to doctoral and post-doctoral students and professionals from respective NATO, Partner and Mediterranean Dialogue countries that are primarily involved in policymaking and the science and engineering aspects of water resources management.
