International Conference on Climate Change in Arid and Semi-Arid Region (ICCCASR)

Lieu et date : Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia 19-21 September 2013

Organisation  : Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST) ; Ministry of Environment and Green Development (MEGD)

Présentation

The recent studies show that the effects of global climate change vary wildly from region to region. It is certainly true that the climate change has positive and negative impacts on the ecosystem and socio-economic standing of the country, and human livelihoods.

Nowadays, region-specific problems must be studied one at a time, independently to know their backgrounds, causes, and durations. And to know why this is what must be done for each and every specific region.

Optimal management of our environment, adaptation to climate change and sustainable development on our earths depend on timely and accurate information on a number of global and regional environmental variables.

Our need is the underlying requirement for continually improving our understanding of the behavior of climate change impacts and especially the interaction of connected environmental systems.

Objectifs The main theme of this International Conference is climate change in arid semi-arid region. We aimed to conduct an international comparison and verify our research results and perform an interdisciplinary comparison based on the research results obtained over recent years. The conference will focus on the following topics for research issues of climate change and environmental systems : 1. Climate change : Global warming, desertification, deforestation 2. Atmospheric science : Solar radiation, atmospheric optical properties 3. Hydrology and Cryosphere : Groundwater, evapotranspiration, snow, glacier, permanent snow and permafrost 4. Environmental science : Land cover change, air, soil, water pollutions, soil erosion 5. Green development : Renewable energy, solar, wind and water energy resources 6. Disasters and hazards : drought, dust, snow storm, forest and steppe fires, earthquake, flood
