Ottma district is an area of natural beauty was announced as protected area. Due to its mountainous nature, steep slopes, roads building and human activities, the district is suffering from tremendous land degradation caused by soil erosion and deposition in lower system. The result is flood water diversion towards terraces land at the mountain slope and a long wadi sides causing its erosion. The problem is evident in the whole watershed therefore for effective solution to this problem need a hydrological study and design of flood water control and soil retention measures along the water shed and of wadi Khabash and its tributaries.
