Contexte
The project location is in environs of three villages called Wara, Beghesa and Dekighebru of Aditekelezan Subzoba, where the majority of projects of SGP are to be clustered.They are located 50-75 km North East of Asmara ; east from the main Asmara – Keren road. Its geographic location is 15o 34o 06 I North and 38o 49o 8 East. They are also situated in the central highland zone, which is adjacent to the green belt zone, with altitudes of 2100- 2250 m above sea level. The rainfall ranges from 260 -630mm/annum (Data Adi-tekelezan meteorological station) and the temperature range is 5o- 25o. Even though there is a shower during April-May due to Green Belt (Bahari) influence ; July –August is the main rainy season of the villages. The population of the areas estimated about 10,749 people or 2,195 households, which is about 37.9% of the total population of the sub zone. The average family size is 5.1 per household. Approximately 30% of the inhabitants of the villages are female-headed households.

Résumé du projet
The overall objective of the project is to improve the ecological condition of the project area and create sound environment through afforstation and Soil and Water Conservation measures. Immediate objective of the project is to minimize land degradation by slowing down the run-off and enhance the environmental awareness of the community.
Expected out puts : Create enabling Environment for further Agricultural developments ; land degradation of the areas rehabilitated/reclaimed ; productivity increased by slowing down the run-off and erosion ; fertile land at the bottom of the hill ; environmental hazards reduced.
Among many others, main activities will include ; enclosing project area, terracing, tree planting, and awareness raising.
