Résumé
This work was made to study the influence of different factors as density (high and low), spatial patterns of distribution (clumped and random) and species composition on survival and growth rates, intensity of competition and finally on the biomass production, under controlled experimental conditions. Two annual plants species from the semiarid valley of Zapotitlán Salinas, Puebla : Flaveria ramossissima Klatt. and Atriplex pueblensis Standl were studied. At high densities, mortality was higher than in low ones, there is not a uniform incidence from the spatial patterns of distribution on survival. The rates of survival, growth and consequently biomass production, increased considerably, when individuals of both species were grown together. The intensity of intraspecific competition was higher than the interespecific one. It was notable that the plants of F. ramossissima grow better when alone and the plants of A. pueblensis increased their growth, when they were grown altogether with individuals of F. ramossissima. In conclusion, the spatial distribution patterns, the density, the species combination, and competition are important factors for the assemblage of vegetal communities. All of them can act on diverse intensities at the same or at different times.
