Résumé
The objective of this investigation is the study of collective action through social networks caused by social actors in the horticultural system into the municipality of Acatzingo in the state of Puebla. The study focuses on collective action as a mechanism to enable small farmers to access the rent generated by the production system affecting the production dynamics of small farmers growing vegetables. The study widely analyzed the horticultural production system of the municipality of Acatzingo and involved social actors. The analysis evaluated the system organization and the relationships among the actors. Previous considerations show that social actors settle down relationships of negotiation, cooperation, subordination, confidence, kinship and conflict in an atmosphere of arrangements, interests, and economic needs in an attempt to take control of the rent that the system generates. This scenario leads social actors to build strategies of collective action due to their structural differentiation, and the small horticultural farmers are the base of the system. In this logic, rational behavior and social networks built by social actors acquire importance from a relational perspective. Also, the established linking pattern in a system referred to a particular actor, allowed to determine some features of a network in structural terms, and therefore infer in its dynamics through an index, which is called index of rural collective action.
