Résumé

Dust storm, mainly occurring in the deserts and its neighboring arid and semi-arid areas, is a common natural phenomenon under special geographical environments and meteorological conditions, whose frequent occurrence is an indicator of environmental deterioration. Globally, dust storms are primarily distributed in central Asia, north American, Central Africa and Australia. While in China, most northwestern and northen regions, one part of central Asia, are affected by dust storms, which are regarded as one of the most frequently occurring areas of the world. Research on dust storm disaster is very significant to the eco-environmental projects and sustainable development as well as disaster mitigation and reduction in China. Therefore, this paper firstly gives a systematic overview of domestic and overseas dust storm researches and presents the goals and the framework of this thesis.
