Résumé
In 1975, Algeria started a vast programme of development of the rural space. 4,000 villages were programmed to be built in order to improve the life of the rural communities. After building 300 villages, the creation of the department of renewable energy in Algeria gave the idea to the O.N.R.S. `Organisme national de recherche scientifique’ to direct its researchers of solar energy in the future villages. A project of a solar village was proposed to the C.R.A.V. (Centre de recherche en Architecture et urbanisme) which has given me the opportunity to work on it in my thesis. The thesis mainly summarises the energy problems in Algeria, then shows the potentialities offered by the climate. To prove the importance of the bioclimatic aspect, a detailed appraisal of the urbanistic and architectural approach to the solar village project is also given. Three prototypes are proposed and studied with a thermal simulation program called `BREAM’, to test the efficiency of the design. Finally, a conclusion is made to highlight some recommendations which hopefully could help the designers in the future.
