L. leucocephala and L. pulverulenta were evaluated for fodder and protein production from 1984 to 1987 at 2 sites. L. leucocephala was consistently higher in dry matter and protein production. L. leucocephala was also higher in % crude protein than L. pulverulenta. There was a significant (P $<$.01) negative relationship between dry matter production and % crude protein at both the sites. Total annual dry matter yields on two sites ranged from 3.3 to 9.4 Mg ha$\sp-1$ for L. leucocephala (1094), and 1.6 to 9.6 Mg ha$\sp-1$ for L. pulverulenta. Yields of L. leucocephala (1094) on the two sites ranged from 0.4 to 6 Mg ha$\sp-1$ per harvest. Yields of L. pulverulenta (1001) ranged from 0.2 to 6.5 Mg ha$\sp-1$ per harvest. The protein % in the green chop which included stems and leaves ranged from 14.2-24.3 % per harvest for L. leucocephala and 12.5-22.2 % per harvest for L. pulverulenta.
