To improve the food and nutrition security of small holder farmers in 12 districts of Zimbabwe by raising farm productivity through training of farmers and introducing improved agricultural practices ; linking farmer groups and commercial markets ; providing incomes for poor farmers and constructing productive community infrastructure managed and operated by the community ; and promoting bio-fortification and fortification of maize. The benefits are that food insecurity will be reduced by 216,360 people ; stunting in children under-five reduced by 18,900 children ; increase in farm output for poor women and men farmers of $44.1 million ; 33,516 women and men farmers in programme villages will enter in contract farming relationships with traders and processors ; 37,800 person-months of employment created for farmers in productive safety net programme ; 567 productive community assets built, operated, and managed by communities ; and improved diets for households participating in the programme.
