Contexte
The Government approved an Agriculture Master Plan which identified perennial horticulture as a key component and where the almond was stated to be one of the top 5 horticultural export crops of Afghanistan. The EU’s Perennial Horticulture Development Project has thus been the primary, internationally-funded program supporting the development of perennial horticulture in line with the priorities of the Government. The focus of the project has been on developing a system of nurseries to produce high-quality saplings required for expansion in addition to replanting of commercial orchards to produce the almonds required for increase in exports.

Objectifs
1. to contribute to the development of a demand-oriented and export-led horticulture industry.
2. to assist almond merchants plan.
3. to implement the development of an integrated private almond industry.

EC contribution : EC Contribution : € 750 000 (87.6% of the total budget)
