Objectif
To help preserve the agricultural production and food security of concerned populations in the Sahel by controlling the current Desert Locust outbreak in the infested areas.

Activités
* Developed eLocust3 as an upgrade to eLocust2, a system used by national survey and control officers in all locust-affected countries for recording field observations and transmitting data by satellite in real time from the field to NLCUs and FAO headquarters.
* Developed training materials and conducted training on eLocust3.
* Timely and effective survey and control operations were carried out in the 2012/13 campaign, treating almost 100 000 ha of locust-infested areas in the Sahel.
* Partnered with national governments and the United Nations World Food Programme to redirect surplus pesticides from donor countries to areas requiring additional quantities of pesticides for control operations.
