Titre : Comprehensive Socio-economic Development in Rural Mongolia

Social Care Centres as Part of Comprehensive Socio-economic Development in Rural Mongolia

Pays : Mongolie

Durée : 1 September 2012 - 31 August 2015

Contexte
In Uvs province, the local branch of the Mongolian Red Cross organised a vocational training course in cooperation with the local government’s labour department and “Uran chadamj” training centre. This time five women, all beneficiaries of the project, participated to the shoemaker training. All five were previously unemployed and had no vocational training or professional background. The training course length was 14 days during which they learned the basics of the trade.

Objectif
The purpose of this project is to contribute to creating socially inclusive and economically empowered rural communities, specifically targeting the most vulnerable community members, such as children, people with disabilities, domestic migrants, elders, homeless families, single parents and the unemployed. Reduce internal migration and urbanisation in Mongolia. Improve access to and quality of social care services. The project also aims at increasing the economic resilience of communities by promoting employment opportunities in rural communities.

Résultats
Since September 2012 the project has reached thousands of people through various forms of support. In addition to the vast number of social care services provided by local Red Cross volunteers through their Social Care Centres, the project also helps local employment by offering vocational training, seasonal work and grants for small business start-ups.
