Environmental degradation and rise of food prices have been increasingly compromising the capacity of smallholder farmers to meet their basic nutritional needs. The program Malawi Emergency and Early Recovery Response enables vulnerable households to improve their food security, increase their resilience and to strength their capacity to respond to food shortage through mitigation measures.

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the alleviation of hunger and food insecurity among vulnerable households. The program involves the direct food distribution and food for work programs. This is complemented with recovery promotion interventions such as seed distribution and technical support on disaster risk reduction.
