Researching sustainable agriculture to improve pastoralist’s livelihoods By supporting sustainable farming research and capacity building of pastoralists in dry-lands we are contributing to strengthening their livelihoods, enabling them respond efficiently to climate change. The project also seeks to institutionalize knowledge and understanding of dry-lands dynamics ecology and livelihoods systems at local and national levels.

The main objective of the research is to gain knowledge on sustainable practices of dry lands farming to strength pastoralist’s capacity to respond to climate change, to build evidence and to make the argument of pastoralism the center of the future development of dry lands in Ethiopia. Ultimately, the project aims to secure pastoralist livelihoods inat the face of high environmental degradation in the region. Local governments, pastoral civil society and regional universities have a key role on the project implementation and decision making process.
