The Njaa Marufuku ‘Alleviate Food Insecurity’ project will be implemented in Kibwezi East Sub County, Makueni County, Kenya. The project will directly benefit 3,860 smallholder farmers and indirectly reach and estimated 19,300 people over three years.
The project is designed to address the current situation in Kibwezi where the agricultural livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Kibwezi East are susceptible to effects of reduced and unevenly distributed rainfall, high temperatures and degraded environment.
The overall goal of the project is to increase the resilience of smallholder farmers of Makueni County against the effects of changing weather and environmental conditions. It is strategic objective is to support members of Muungano to produce adequate food and cash crops to sustain themselves and their families throughout the year.
