Afghanistan

Titre : Digital Integration to Amplify Agricultural Extension in Afghanistan (DIAAEA)

Pays : Afghanistan

Zone géographique : two provinces (Parwan and Kabul)

Durée : November 2014 – November 2015

Descriptif
The Digital Integration to Amplify Agricultural Extension in Afghanistan (DIAAEA) is a pilot project that seeks to train farmers in two provinces (Parwan and Kabul) on improved agricultural practices, using video materials.
Project managers will use locally-produced, community-centered videos as part of a training effort aimed at more than 5,000 small-scale farmers. Some of the farmers will be featured in the videos.
A key project goal is building a training material base within Afghanistan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) that meets the needs of small-scale farmers across the country.
In a later stage, MAIL officials will use the videos as training tools in rural and difficult-to-access regions, in cooperation with the provincial Directorates of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (DAILs).

Activités
Strengthen public engagement skills of MAIL officials by institutionalizing video-based training and knowledge-sharing in the agency. • Strengthen and widen Afghan farmer support for modern agricultural practices. • Deploy a technology platform that fits the Afghanistan context and build an evidence base for effective extension programs in areas of agriculture, nutrition, and health.

Financement : $390,000
