Résumé
Gediz River basin of Turkey, was selected for this study and time series of the climatic data, stream-flow values of the main tributaries of the Gediz river covering 32 years were analysed. Sub-catchments of the Gediz River basin were delineated and water budgets for the sub-catchments belonging to water storage structures (Demirköprü, Gölmarmara, Afşar and Buldan Dams). The databases belonging to Water User Associations in the basin, were prepared using Gegraphical Information System (GIS). By using CROPWAT Computer Program, plant water requirements of the crops were calculated for 2005, 2006 and 2007 of which first two were, as aresult of trend analysis, determined as approximate years and the last year as an arid year. The computed values of plant water requirements and water supplied to the water user organizations were analysed with MIKE BASIN Model with respect to water regulators in the basin. In addition to using the full capacities of the dams, the scenarios of 20%, 40%, 60% and %80 reductions in the capacities were analysed. The difference in the amount of supply when pressurized systems were used with the existing water amounts were also determined.with the model.
The results of the trend analysis showed an important decreasing trend in in the precipitation and stream data in summer, spring and autumn seasons. According to the results of water budget calculations, the mean monthly runoff amounts from the catchments have increased from January to April, decreased from May to October and again increased from October to December. According to the results of the scenarios with MIKE BASIN, the water deficits from surface irrigation systems were high from that of pressurized irrigation systems. It was also determined that additional 35200 hectares of land can be irrigated with pressurized irrigation systems with the deficit from surface irrigation systems.
