Descriptif
The USAID Agro Horizon project will raise smallholder farmers’ incomes by expanding markets and increasing the competitiveness of value chains for fruits, vegetables, and dairy. The project will increase employment in the agricultural sector, especially for women and youth, while improving the availability of nutritious foods and market share of the targeted crops in both domestic and foreign markets.
Activités
Agro Horizon will enable producers to access agricultural inputs and services as well as training in new technologies and good on-farm management practices. The project will increase the competiveness of agribusinesses in the targeted value chains, helping them adopt sound business principles, access financial services, and engage with the export market. Agro Horizon will facilitate improved communication between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and key stakeholders to advance policy and regulatory reforms that are favorable to local production, private investment and international trade.
Throughout all agricultural activities, Agro Horizon will explicitly incorporate nutrition objectives that promote the availability and consumption of diverse nutritious foods. Nutrition messages will be designed to target both men and women and improve diets in their households.
