UKAID Department for International Development (R4D)
Titre : Biology and control of sorghum foliar pathogens in the semi-arid tropics
Pays : Zambie
Projet de recherche pour le Développement : R5349
DFID Programme : Crop Protection
Organismes de mise en œuvre
Lead Institutes : Natural Resources Institute (NRI)
Managing Institutes : Natural Resources International Limited (NRIL)
Durée : Start Date : 01-04-1995 End Date : 30-03-1996
Objectif
The wider objectives of this project are :* To reduce crop losses due to foliar pathogens * To characterise of pathogen populations in Africa.
The immediate objectives are : * To determine the effects of cultural practices, sorghum genotype and climatic variables on disease development * To assess yield losses due to foliar pathogens * To determine specificity and variability within pathogen populations.
Descriptif
Sorghum is an important component of small-holderfarming systems in semi-arid zones. This project aims to describethe epidemiology and host pathogen interactions of foliar pathogensand determine the effects of cropping system on disease levelsallowing the development of management strategies.
Total Cost to DFID : £265,050
