Résumé
Physical deterioration of the vertisols soils is considered as one of the major problems that affect the yield in the Gezira scheme (Sudan). Three cultivation practices of agroforestry, incorporation of plant residues with the soil, and normal cultivation practice in the Gezira scheme were chosen. Permanent fallow was considered as control. Selected chemical and hydrophysical properties were discussed and compared for the different practices. The incorporation of plant residues cultivation practice, showed better hydrophysical properties. Aggregate stability and shrinkage curve were found the better parameters for comparing the physical deterioration of the studied vertisols soils. Improving organic content and the applied blow systems of the vertisols soils may result in a better physical condition of the soil.
