Résumé
Qualitative and quantitative land evaluation tools were applied to asses the agricultural potential of North-West Cameroon for the production of groundnut. Using GIS tools, a digital spatial and numerical database of the natural resources was generated. The land suitability classification revealed that a greater part of the study area was moderately suitable with respect to climate but marginally suitable with respect to edaphic properties. With regard to the crop growth model, the estimated yield ranged from 0.34 to 1.99 t/ha. The production of groundnut is strongly being hampered by high soil acidity and low sum of basic cations. The results of both land evaluation tools were validated using locally recorded and internationally reported yield data
