Résumé
Different available pedotransfer functions (PTFs) were evaluated to test their accuracy in predicting bulk density (BD) and soil hydraulic properties, including field capacity (FC), permanent wilting point (PWP), available water content (AWC) and saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ks) for arid and semi-arid soil of Iran. Additionally, multiple regression was used to develop new PTFs for above soil hydraulical properties. The results showed that the PTF of Adams (1973) had the highest accuracy to predict BD. No variable was significantly related to BD. However, new models were extracted for FC, PWP, AWC and Ks, which showed a high prediction performance for the studied areas. Validations of PTFs on an independent dataset showed that our own PTF for predicting field capacity, permanent wilting point and available water content was much better compared to PTFs found in literature. Our own model was the best PTF in estimating Ks and the poorest result was obtained from PTF of Vereecken (1990)
