Résumé
Sharm El-Sheikh area is situated in a region suffered for long time from oil pollution. The area has a unique biodiversity and it is a very famous resort destination. This thesis discuss the production of GIS-based Environmental Sensitivity Index map that gives the oil spill responders a summary of the coastal environments those would be seriously damaged by an oil spill so that they should receive priority protection. Physical factors, those controlling oil behaviours in the coastal zone, have been integrated through the development of a simple cartographic model to classify shoreline habitats according to their sensitivity for oil spills. Analysis of the resultant ESI map showed that the area could be considered as highly sensitive place for oil spil
