Résumé
Tef is a cereal crop that grows very well under various stress conditions and extensively used in Ethiopia. A green house experiment was conducted to evaluate the influence of water availability on the growth, development and biomass yield and to determine the permanent wilting point of tef. Five levels of available water content were used as treatments with three replications for each. Continuous plant parameter and soil water measurements were conducted to determine the permanent wilting point. The results revealed that there was significant difference in biomass yield, water use efficiency, some chemical and physical soil properties among treatments. However reasonable yield could be obtained at different water levels. The results also showed that the permanent wilting point of tef on average between three selected growth stages could be lower than -54 bar
