Résumé
The awareness of climate change has led to many energy-related changes in building behavior and space conditioning systems. Unfortunately, these changes often led to the degradation of indoor air quality (IAQ) in residential construction. In an effort to improve IAQ, a design guideline was developed for homeowners in the Mojave Desert. A case study designed for the U.S. Department of Energy, Race to Zero Student Design Competition was used to develop the design guideline. The design guideline and compilation of codes and standards that affect both IAQ and space conditioning shall be used in tandem by Mojave Desert homeowners to ensure adequate IAQ.
