Résumé
The Yemen Arab Republic (YAR) is an agricultural country with low crop yields. Losses due to insect pest damage are major factors contributing to these low yields. It is proposed that the YAR should gradually shift from traditional pest control to a broad insect pest management (IPM) program because it holds the promise of efficiently and economically improving crop yields while overcoming and avoiding the problems resulting from heavy dependence on chemical control. Insect pests and pest problems are discussed, pest management phil osophy is explained in detail, various types of control are evaluated, and the major agricultural pests of the country are described and illustrated, insectlcidal control for the major insect pests in the country is given with the basic elements of the safe handling of in secticides.
