Descriptif
EU supports the Panj-Amu River Basin Programme, P-ARBP, since 2004. In June 2015 started a transition phase to reinforce Afghan ownership. Five sub-basins are concerned namely : Upper Kunduz Sub basin, Lower Kunduz sub basin, Taloqan Sub basin, Upper Panj Sub basin and LowerPanj Sub basin
P-ARBP aims to improve management and sustainable protection of water and land resources throughout the Panj-Amu River Basin with the help of Integrated Participatory Water Management. It involves major activities such as : Integrated river basin and project management capacity at central government and basin level ; Sustainable improvement of hydraulic systems and structures ; Community based water management through establishment of Water Users Association ; and Integrated upper catchment resources management.
