Objectives of the study : For providing a comprehensive plan to develop agriculture in Anantapur district, it is imperative to gam insights into the changing spatial pattern of agricultural resources, namely, soil, water, landuse, cropping, and livestocK potentials in their ecological, socio-economic and technological milieu. It is also essential to understand the main problems and constraints which hinder the development of agriculture in the district. A critical examination and evaluation of agricultural potential of the district helps to gain insights into the problem and provides the basis of planning and development. The spatial analysis of the study is made at ’mandal’ level for the trlennlum, 1986-89, and the changing patterns are examined at HaluK’ level at 10 year intervals spreading over a period of 20 years.
