Présentation
Objectifs : To provide a timely and coordinated livelihood emergency response to the deteriorating food security situation of the population living in peri-urban areas of Rural Damascus and in Hama Governorate.
Activités : •Distributed 45 000 laying hens and 150 tonnes of poultry feed to 3 000 households, with each household receiving 15 hens and 50 kg of feed. •Distributed vegetable production packages (containing tomato, cucumber, squash, okra and Jew’s mallow seeds and 20 kg of compound suspension fertilizer) to 3 000 households. •Provided training to 180 beneficiaries (120 women and 60 men) on backyard poultry production and nutrition and 161 beneficiaries (19 women and 142 men) on backyard vegetable production and nutrition. •Provided training on data collection and recording for 29 technical staff from FAO, MAAR and the World Food Programme (WFP), and ten representatives from local Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC). •Trained 62 people from FAO, MAAR, Ministry of Social Affairs, NGOs, SARC and WFP in preparation to collect data for the third Joint Rapid Food Security Needs Assessment.
