Résumé
Two areas in Jordan : Ajlun and Muwaqqer were selected for this study. Three transects in each site were sampled in a 30 X 30 m grid for a total of fifty one soil samples in each site. Ajlun site included variations in slope and land-use, which usually reflect on soil properties and distribution of nutrients in soil. Muwaqqer was more homogenous compared to Ajlun site, leading to more uniformity in the soil properties and distribution of nutrients. The two sites are in two different climatic zones, which reflected different soil characteristics. This study focused on variation of soil potassium forms, (exchangeable K, nonexchangeable K, and mineral K) Geostatistical analyses were of the data was carried out and semivariograms were plotted to the spatial variability of the different K forms in the two sites. The results showed there were high variations among and between transect for each site. Ajlun site showed more variation than Muwaqqer site. This could be due to more factors influencing the K forms in Ajlun site. This study showed great variability in all soil potassium forms due to variations in topography, land use and soil management practices. These factors were more dominating in Ajlun site and thus cause more variability in soil K forms. Muwaqqer site was more homogenous in many of the factors that could affect the content of the different forms of K in the soil.
