Résumé
Infiltration is the key to soil water conservation and management, whose behavior depends on external factors and soil properties that vary depending on the type of soil. The study aimed at examining the effect of various physical-chemical properties in topsoil that influence in infiltration rate and runoff. Eight rainfall-runoff experiments were carried out along 14 km transect from Eidoon to Al-Ramtha using the sprinkler infiltrometer with rainfall intensity 21/hr to measured infiltration rates under dry soil conditions where 3 soil orders ( Inceptisols, Vertisols and Aridisols) had been investigation. A total of 56 soil samples from these sites were analyzed for selected soil physico-chemical properties. Inceptisols found in western part of study area (Eidoon) while Vertisols is found in the eastern part of the study area (Al-Ramtha). Results showed that infiltration rate in Inceptisols and Verisols had been recorded nearly similar values ( 5.96 and 5.95 cm/h), but infiltration rate in Aridisols had been recorded the lowest values than others (3.71 cm/h). On dry soil condition infiltration rate are high in Inceptisols and Vertisols with average runoff coefficient about 0 ;10. Aridisol show the relatively higher runoff coefficient of 0.14. Infiltration rates decreased with an increases in the bulk density, pH values, TDS and CaCO3 content. However, infiltration rate increased with an increase in the TOM content and gravel content.
