Résumé
Ecosystem monitoring, particularly the vegetation as core component is necessary to develop natural resources conservation and management. Structural diversity by means of similarity indexes and cluster analysis was used to classify the vegetation of different ecosystems of the Sierra Madre Oriental at Nuevo Leon, México. For the analysis, 34 sites were sampled along an altitudinal gradient, in all sites variables evaluated were size, diameter (D 1.30m), and canopy cover, dominancy (Dr), frequency (Fr), as well as physical variables such as physiography, soil depth, and aspect. We recorded 32 families, 69 genera, and 105 species of vascular plants ; the families best represented are Asteraceae, Rosaceae and Leguiminoseae. According to plant communities classification, seven associations are gecognized along the altitudinal gradient.
