Zoological Garden of Botswana Trust (ZGBT) intends to produce a documentary on Snake Awareness that will be distributed to the affected areas of the country that have had snakebites incidents. In addition, it will hold talk shows and presentation of booklets the areas of Molepolole, Shoshong, Kaudwane, Khudumelagwe, Dukwi, Serowe, Nata, Mokoboxane and Mahalapye with posters placed in the hospitals, Kgotla’s and clinics of the above mentioned places. The Snakes of Botswana Awareness Documentary will be broadcast in on Botswana Television in both Setswana and English languages in order to reach a wider audience. During the period April 2008 to date snake bites has caused 42 deaths. The recent Mokoboxane incidence of January, 2010 in which 3 women died while the fourth one (a man) is in a critical from presumably due to cobra bites is a sad one. Fatalities from snake bites in these areas are very fatal as they are attributed to Black Mambas and cobras which are venomous. Venoms of the snakes are highly potent these affect the nervous system ; making makes it very difficult for those who are trying to render first aid and treatment to victim since the venom is fast reacting. Some snake bite in Botswana goes unrecorded due to poor communication and dissemination of information to the relevant authority.
