Domaine : Land Degradation

Durée : 5/2008 — 5/2011

Présentation
The project involves the rehabilitation of degraded land in the vicinity of Zwenshambe village in North East Botswana. In addition to the rehabilitation of degraded land, the project will embark on related income generating activities of community conservation education, bee keping, guinea fowl domestication, horticulture and pisciculture. These related activities will be employed to add value to the rehabilitated land and also to prepare the community for other planned conservation activities.
The issue of land degradation is severe in many parts of Botswana. In the village of Zwenshambe, degraded land is both environmentally unhealthy and unsightly and also presents real physical threat to the inhabitants as gullies cut off roads and expand towards homesteads. A total of approximately 12 hectares of land are earmarked for rehabilitation.
