S ?nd ? Village is far away to the Sea. There are 140 houses and population is 380. Our main incomes are Almond and Olive productions. In 2006, with 60 farmers we established S.S S ?nd ? Village Development Cooperative. We have facilities to packing almond, olive, olive oil, almond toffee and almond paste. Chemical fertilizers and pesticides are having been degraded our soil and brought unknown disease to our village. As a cooperative we cannot force them to purchase organic fertilizers but wt ihin this Project we can encourage them to make its own organic fertilizer. After and before harvest seasons in our garden left organic residues always. We either burn them or leave in the field without any plan and management.
Our farmers are small scale farmer and we don’t earn good enough. Almost every year we become indebted to the fertilizer companies. But in other countries farmers prepare its own organic fertilizers and apply to the field. Those are, Bockashi, Rockdust/Stonemeal, and liquid organic fertilizer. With theoretical and practical trainings our farmers will learn how to do it. With 5 demonstration sides farmer will see differences. In order to reduce expenditure and prevent get in to debt to the private companies, thanks to the project our farmers will be aware of handmade organic fertilizer production and they will apply to their own lands. Farmers will realize benefit and after this project local production will continue.
