Balikesir Bigadic region is notable for its plant diversity. The projects conservation studies will mainly focus on the identification of the plant species which are favoured by the local varieties of bees and to involve the local people into conservation activities by helping them do beekeeping in a near organic method, thus conserving both the local bee varieties and the plant biodiversity and generating income for the locals.
