Finalité et objectifs
The project’s long-term goal is to create an enabling environment and capacity for sustainable land management as a contribution to greater ecosystem stability, enhanced food security and improved rural livelihoods.
The project aims at mainstreaming SLM principles into national policies and frameworks by using one sector as a vehicle which is forestry and National Reforestation Programme (NRP).

Expected Outcomes
1. An amended forest law establishes a management and rehabilitation authority, supplements the number of knowledgeable forest engineers and affords incentives for private land owners to sustainably manage private forests
2. A set of innovative technologies and instruments for the restoration of forests and woodlands, and their subsequent sustainable management, validated in pilot areas
3. Public support to forest conservation (nationally and at local sites) strengthened
